Ezra Pound, Wyndham Lewis, and the Crowd
I wrote this thesis back in the early 21st century. The bit I like most now is the appendix, which Wyndham Lewis actually wrote, but which I travelled to shining Ithaca, New York, to look at. It has quite an involved critical apparatus that I haven't got round to typesetting for the web.
- Abstract
- Introduction: Re-entering the 'Era of Crowds'
- 1. 'The real stuff of the poetry of our day': Negotiating the Edwardian Crowd
- 2. Blast: Crowd Master and Crowd Medium
- 3. 'No sensation worth noting': After the Crowd
- Conclusion: The End of an Era
- Appendix: Wyndham Lewis's Cantelman: Crowd Master
